Frequently Asked Questions

When are you open?

We are open 10am-8pm Monday to Saturday and 10am-6pm Sundays.

How do I choose the right massage for me?

Aromatherapy massage is a light, relaxing massage so if you’re looking to relax this is the treatment for you. If you’re looking for a more specific massage that is tailored to your needs, Prescriptive massage is a medium pressure massage that can target specific areas on your body. If you are struggling with muscles aches/pains or you would like a firm massage, deep tissue massage is the best option for you. Hot stones massage is another deep tissue option that is focused on relaxing the muscles through heat rather than pressure. To experience a combination of these two treatments a warm bamboo massage may be a good option for you. It combines pressure with heat to relieve muscle tension and soreness.

About patch tests

Why do I need to have a patch test?

Patch tests allow us to identify any allergies, even if you have previously had a patch test elsewhere and it’s been fine, different salons use different products and it’s important, for your safety, to make sure you won’t have a reaction to our specific products.

Why do I need to have a patch test every 6 months?

Changes in the body can lead you to have reactions to products you previously have had no issues with, to prevent this from happening we test you every 6 months.

Before your treatment

Should I eat before my massage?

We advise that you have a light meal or snack 1 hour before your treatment. Arriving with a full stomach may cause discomfort when lying face down and arriving hungry may make you feel lightheaded or serve as a distraction during your appointment.

Can I still have a treatment if I'm unwell?

Please do not attend your appointment if you are unwell or suspect you might be. If you arrive on the day and we suspect you to be unwell we will turn you away. Even if it is just a cold please ring us in advance and we will happily rearrange your appointment for a future date when you are better. We do not treat anyone who is unwell for your safety and our other clients’ safety.

Can I have a treatment if I've had alcohol?

No, we do not allow for clients to have a treatment if they have had any amount of alcohol before the treatment. Alcohol affects the body’s circulation. Alcohol dilates your blood vessels, and massage promotes increased blood flow. Combined, this can lower your blood pressure significantly, potentially leading to dizziness, fainting, or nausea. Alcohol also dulls the body to sensation which could affect your ability to communicate any discomfort. If we suspect you have had a drink we will turn you away for your own safety.

How do I book in?

Bookings can be made online via our website alternatively you can give us a call on 01934 751825. If a member of staff is available in the spa we are also able to take bookings in our salon.

Do you take payment upfront?

We do, this ensures your spot for that day and allows for more treatment time as payment is sorted beforehand.

Do you accept walk-ins?

We do however, availability for this is often limited. If you would like a treatment we recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment.

On the day

What should I expect when I arrive?

When you arrive, we are based downstairs in the Webbington Hotel, in the Leisure Club. We collect our clients from the blue leather sofas in the leisure club so please wait for your treatments on these.

What do I wear for the massage?

Please arrive in your normal clothes, you will be asked to undress down to your underwear after we have left the room and cover yourself with a towel. Wet swimwear can not be worn for the treatments so please come dry.

Why do you ask so many consultation questions?

We ask in-depth consultation questions before the appointment to tailor your treatment to you, no massage we do is the same! We ask these up front to allow for more treatment time on the day.

Do I need to talk during the treatment?

It is completely up to you! For the best results and most relaxing service we recommend not speaking during your treatment, our therapists will not attempt to make conversion during the treatments unless necessary. However, if you would like to talk please let us know and we are happy to have a conversation or talk you through your treatment process.

After your treatment

What should I do after my massage treatment?

We advise you to keep as hydrated as possible post treatment to help flush out any toxins from the body. We provide a glass of water after the treatment and recommend that you drink this and continue to keep yourself hydrated. Spend the rest of the day relaxing as much as possible. We also recommend having a warm bath or shower to further soothe your muscles. Avoid any alcohol or caffeine.

Can I exercise after my treatment?

We recommend not exercising after your treatment to allow your body to rest and relax.

How often would you recommend having treatments?

A general recommendation for any treatment we provide would be to partake in a treatment every 4-6 weeks. However, this may be subjective to the treatment or the individual. Please speak to your therapist for some tailored advice surrounding time intervals.
